Welcome to the 6th Edition of Inprem Speaks, to our volunteers and sponsors we say thank you for being an important part of the story.
September is Hunger Action month, as an NGO with a goal to create a sustainable community to prevent and alleviate human suffering, this month cannot pass by without a word or two. The food pantry is one of our main focus, Inprem Holistic Comunity Resouce Center in partnership with the Mid Ohio Food Bank, Community Plates, and several private donors served 3,686,555.19 Lbs of food in 2020.
Food insecurity is still knocking at our doors, as stated by Hunger Net Ohio
“Ohio has one of the highest rates of food insecurity in the country – ranking 47th and 1.8 million Ohioans live in poverty.” ‘Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice’ – Nelson Mandela
We are working hard, but our efforts aren’t enough. We are calling on individuals, organizations, philanthropists to help put food on the tables of those in need. As madam Theresa said, if you cannot feed a hundred people, feed just one.
— Apostle Alex-Eric K. Abrokwa-Clottey
In the last issue we talked about the work our staff volunteers put in on a daily basis. Today our feature is on Madam Bernice Acheampong, one of our staff volunteers who has been working since 2016.
Madam Bernice mentioned she takes so much delight in what she does as a volunteer worker at the pantry for five consecutive years now.
Her biggest fulfillment she says comes from giving back to society, bringing hope to people and putting smiles on the faces of people. Some of the challenges she says she faces on a regular basis is having to deal with rude clients. She mentioned that, due to the challenges they are facing, some of them curse and insult, others also feel that she is not giving them the best of what is available but this is not so, while others are just rude for no reason.
Madam Bernice currently has a fulltime job and juggles that with what she does at the pantry. For these five years she worked 30 – 40 hours a week for most weeks sometimes even more.
Despite all these, she says she will continue to offer her service and nothing will discourage her.
— Madam Bernice Acheampong Inprem 5757
The last ended week was our produce market Saturday. The produce market Saturday is the 3rd Saturday of every month. We do not count this as part of our regular pantry visits giving families that still need more despite the regular weekly food drive to come in for the everyday produce as well as clothing and other donation items.
For this Saturday September 18th , 2021, over 100 families were served. We believe these Saturday drive- thrus help supplement for families who work during the week.
We appeal to our sponsors and volunteers to donate towards the next produce market which is October 16th, 2021.
Our work across the borders is never ending. There is so much that can be done in these areas. Our biggest investment in the children in these areas is education. That is the only thing that cannot be taken from them.
As Malcom X said, education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for today.
In our efforts to prepare these young ones for the future we started a reading activity in obotwere. This after school program increases their ability to read and reduce the effect of child labor within the communities.
We will need to build a robust library to keep these children motivated and interested.

We are calling on individuals, organizations, philanthropists to help put food on the tables of those in need. As madam Theresa said, if you cannot feed a hundred people, feed just one. We cannot emphasize the need for funds, in our fourth newsletter as mentioned we only meet 2.2 % of the hunger needs of Ohioans, with the help of our sponsors we can raise this number to 5%. As it can be seen we are putting in all the effort to help curb the hunger crises which is subtle but real. Despite increasing our pantry visits two times a month to four times a month families still show signs of need. As the saying goes, mentors help you skill up, but sponsors help you move up, we need you to move up and we need you to make this happen.

Welcome to the 6th Edition of Inprem Speaks, to our volunteers and sponsors we say thank you for being an important part of the story.
The pantry has been opened Monday through Friday, 10: 00 am to 7:00 pm without fail. Most days we serve over hundred families…
Feature on Staff Volunteers Part 1 of 3 Inprem’s success is attributed to volunteers and sponsors. In this edition we will like to throw more light on our staff volunteers….
